The model is already on sale with immediate delivery from €29,800

The new Polo GTI arrives on the Spanish market, a compact with top performance and typical GTI features, making it the top model in the Polo family.

The new Polo GTI aims to position itself as a reference model within the sport utility segment, so in addition to more power than its predecessor, it incorporates numerous innovations in technological and safety equipment. Like all its predecessors, the new Polo GTI is front-wheel drive.

The direct-injection turbo petrol engine has an output of 152 kW (207 hp) and a top speed of 240 km/h. A standard 7-speed DSG dual-clutch transmission takes care of the gear changes. Despite the high power, the engine stands out for its efficiency and moderate consumption.

The 207 hp TSI engine and the sports suspension make the small compact bestseller a dynamic four-door sports car, which also offers all kinds of details. For example, the Matrix LED headlights with an illuminated strip between the headlights and taillights with LED technology. This means better visibility, maximum comfort and even more safety thanks to a series of numerous LEDs per headlamp module. For example, various partially interactive light functions, such as “Dynamic Light Assist”, can make driving at dawn or dusk or in the dark even more comfortable. For example, Volkswagen is adapting its innovative LED lighting system to the small car segment.

This model, which, unlike the rest of the Volkswagen Polo range, will be produced at the Kariega plant in South Africa, also comes standard with a sports suspension specially adapted to the vehicle. With “Sport Select”, the driver can activate two damping characteristics that directly influence the driving behaviour. The body is 15 mm lower, reducing the height to 1,439 mm, with a length of 4,074 mm and a width of 1,751 mm. In addition, it is equipped with the XDS electronic differential lock, which improves traction when exiting fast corners. The XDS regulates the braking pressure of the inner front wheel when cornering, preventing it from spinning in extreme situations and losing control of the vehicle.

An important component is the “Travel Assist” driver assistance system, which enables semi-autonomous driving in the Polo GTI for the first time. The system can steer, brake and accelerate at speeds from 0 km/h to 210 km/h. This option can be operated via the multifunction steering wheel with touch control, in addition to controlling other standard components, such as the new “Climatronic” bi-zone automatic climate control.

After the equipment chapter, the new model has a sporty front bumper with a GTI grille, type “Honeycomb”, and with specific fog lamps. At the rear, it features a bumper with sports diffuser and a chrome-finish twin tailpipe trim. We also find aluminum access strips on the doors, with the inscription “GTI” included. The brakes are fitted with extra large discs (312 mm at the front and 272 mm at the rear) and the brake calipers are given the characteristic red finish, typical of the GTI range of the brand.

In terms of interior design, the new Polo GTI includes stainless steel pedals. The front seats are sport type with “Scale Paper/Clark” cloth upholstery and red piping, with a perforated leather multifunction sports steering wheel with red piping. Following this line, the inner mats also have an edge in the same colour.

The new Polo GTI is available on the Spanish market from €29,800 (including discounts and promotions).
