Get consumption from 1.1 l/100 km with a 100% electric autonomy of 70 km and up to 78 km in the city
After the landing of the petrol, diesel and conventional hybrid versions, the Sportage adds the Mild Hybrid and plug-in hybrid diesel variants to its range, achieving very good characteristics for potential buyers who will respectively cover a lot of kilometers on the road and highway or city.
Each of these cars therefore has a very specific user profile, although in both cases the models, which we were able to test around Valladolid and Peñafiel, stand out for their very good consumption and performance figures.
Despite the demonization of cars with diesel engines, the KIA Sportage MHEV has made a very pleasant impression on us, because it is a quiet car, with enough power for long journeys and urban routes, and with excellent interior quality. This mild hybrid diesel version uses a 136 hp internal combustion engine, with an approved CO2 emission of 129 grams (that is why we have the DGT ECO environmental label), and a consumption of only 4.9 l/100 km, which in practice and during our contact do not exceed 5.2 real liters.
It is a very suitable car for large drivers, because despite the fact that diesel is already above € 2 / liter at many gas stations, it is still the variant that achieves a lower cost per kilometer traveled when we use it on the road or highway. , and many miles a week. This does not mean that we lose the potential to reach cities with environmental constraints, and that thanks to hybridization and with current legislation, we can access the main low-emission zones (especially in Madrid and Barcelona). This variant is available with a 6-speed manual transmission or a 7DCT automatic transmission. we can also choose between front wheel drive or total 4WD. The price starts at €26,576, with brand promotions and discounts.
But the big star of this presentation was the plug-in hybrid petrol version, more suitable for those who have a plug at home or at work, make numerous city trips, but want to guarantee sufficient autonomy to travel long distances from time to time. The Sportage PHEV uses a 1.6 petrol engine and a 66.9 kW electric motor. The set offers us 265 horsepower and is combined with a 6AT automatic gearbox, 4WD four-wheel drive and an approved consumption of 1.1 l/100 km. The autonomy in electric mode reaches 70/76 kilometers, with which, with a charger in our garage, it is possible to make most daily trips in the city without having to use the combustion engine. If we are going to make a long journey, the consumption is quite far from this approved figure, but in any case and during our dynamic test of 100 kilometers we did not exceed 7 liters on average. Consumption that is very affordable for sporadic journeys and is amply compensated by the daily savings on electric driving.
The Sportage Plug-in Hybrid is set to Eco Drive mode by default and if the driver wants a sportier response, they can choose Sport Drive mode.
The GT-Line version, which is also available with an even sportier and more dynamic design, is available to complement the standard version and is accentuated with bright and vibrant body colours.
The wheels of the new Sportage Plug-in Hybrid are 19-inch alloy wheels, with a choice of two designs. The color range consists of 13 variants, nine of which can be combined with a black roof for a striking two-tone effect on the GT-Line versions.
