Cupra reaches the sea with its hybrid performance

Cupra and De Antonio Yachts take another step in their partnership agreement, integrating electrification in the D28 Formentor yacht

Cupra and De Antonio Yachts extend the partnership and present the D28 Formentor e-Hybrid,
his first electrified yachtreinforcing the two brands’ commitment to sustainability and performance.

From the first commitment in 2020 between Cupra and the Barcelona-based high-performance design yacht company, a 400hp showboat was born, capable of reaching a speed of 40 knots. The exterior design of the ship then stood out for its clean lines, dynamism and the use of unconventional colors. Painted in the recognizable Petrol Blue, the helmet offered black and carbon fiber accents, along with a number of distinctive elements.

“We love moving our services to other areas. The Antonio is the perfect partner to offer, like Cupra, a challenging product range that is far from conventional, but in this case in a very different setting: the sea. Now we are going one step further with the hybrid version of the D28 Formentor, which will be officially presented to the public in early 2023,” he says.
Antoninus LabateDirector of Strategy, Business Development and Operations at Cupra.

The two brands collaborated on the design of the De Antonio Yachts D28 Formentor, a high-performance yacht inspired by the first vehicle designed and developed exclusively for Cupra, the Formentor. Electrification is currently being added to the project.

The hybrid propulsion system consists of a 400 hp thermal motor and two 15 kW (20 hp) retractable electric motors, which allow navigation in combustion mode or in 100% electric mode. Thanks to the latter, the D28 Formentor e-Hybrid can move in confined waters, such as harbors or lakes, without polluting the environment and with very low noise emissions.

The D28 Formentor is now also offered with the optional Graphene Gray paintwork – the same as that in the Cupra color palette – in combination with a synthetic teak deck and gray upholstery.

Cupra and De Antonio Yachts are challenging companies in their respective sectors. With the development of the hybrid version of this boat, both are reinforcing their commitment to innovation and progress towards more environmentally friendly mobility.
