Hyundai Motor Company Unveils Long-Awaited Ioniq 6 Electrified Streamliner
As a new model from the Ioniq brand for electric vehicles, the range of advanced technologies, space, personalized features and extended range of the electrified streamliner redefines the boundaries of electric mobility. The Ioniq 6 offers an estimated electric range of more than 610 km, in accordance with the WLTP standard, as well as ultra-fast 400V/800V multi-charging capability thanks to Hyundai Motor Group’s Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP).
It also shows off Hyundai’s most aerodynamic styling to date and a host of features that enhance the e-mobility experience, including two-tone ambient lighting, a speed-synchronized lighting system, electric performance tuning and design.electric sound active (e-ASD).
“The Ioniq 6 is the next ambitious step forward in Hyundai Motor’s strategy to accelerate its transition to electrification and establish itself as a global leader in electric vehicles,” said Jaehoon Chang, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor Company. “The Ioniq 6 Electrified Streamliner will provide drivers and passengers with a unique and distinctive experience.”
The electrified streamliner benefits from the E-GMP platform and offers an extremely long wheelbase of 2,950 mm, which rests on 18-inch or 20-inch wheels. With an impressive overall length of 4,855mm, width of 1,880mm and height of 1,495mm, these dimensions give the Ioniq 6 a distinctive and elegant look to stand out in a sea of electric vehicles with few differences between them. It is available with various mechanical options and battery packs to meet the needs of each customer. The long-lasting 77.4 kWh battery can be mated to two configurations: rear-wheel drive (RWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD). The two-engine configuration with four-wheel drive develops a combined power of 239 kW and 605 Nm of torque. This variant accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.1 seconds.
Ioniq 6 has impressive power consumption data. With the standard 53 kWh battery with 18-inch tires and rear-wheel drive, consumption according to the WLTP standard is estimated at less than 14 kWh/100 km. This makes the Ioniq 6 one of the most energy-efficient vehicles on the market.
The Ioniq 6’s E-GMP architecture can support 400V and 800V charging infrastructures with 800V supplied as standard (it can support 400V charging without the need for additional components or adapters). With a 350 kW charger, the Ioniq 6 can be charged from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes.
Like Ioniq 5, Ioniq 6 offers the innovative Bi-Directional Charging (V2L) feature, which allows customers to power any electrical device from the vehicle. This is ideal for continuing to use these devices during a power outage, camping or outdoor projects.
