The second generation of Kia’s compact SUV is available in three versions: hybrid, plug-in hybrid and 100% electric
The new Kia Niro has been completely renovated from the ground up, not only for its aesthetics, but also for its technology and mechanics. Since the first version, which came on the market in 2016 and was followed by some restyling, more than 20,000 units have been sold in Spain and more than 150,000 in all of Europe. It was the first car with hybrid motorization to be launched by the Kia brand, and given these figures, it is obviously a bestseller.
The second generation Niro incorporates a number of innovative design features that push it to the forefront of sustainable mobility in its segment. One of the most groundbreaking features is the new C-pillar, which can be optionally painted in a different color from the rest of the body, which not only impresses visually, but is also designed to improve aerodynamics, as it serves to channel air and reduce drag. In the same way, the front grille opens or closes automatically to facilitate air supply to the engine, if necessary.
As for the engine, the Kia Niro hybrid and plug-in hybrid repeat, although with certain differences in terms of performance improvements, the 1.6 GDi engine with 141 petrol horsepower. The PHEV version also has an 11.1 kWh plug-in battery. In the 100% electric version, called e-Niro, the 64.8 kWh bi-directional lithium-ion battery can be charged to 80% in just 43 minutes and must power a 204 hp motor with 255 Nm of torque to acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.8 seconds and a range of 463 km.
The interior, made with recycled materials, is designed in the new line of the rest of the Kia range, such as the Sportage or the EV6, where the dual screen integrated into the 10.25-inch dashboard stands out from where we can access any data with minimal distraction.
The new Niro range will be available in three finishes: the base, known as Concept, the intermediate, Drive and the top-of-the-line, Emotion. The starting price for the hybrid version is 24,400 euros.
If you want to discover the new Niro, you can come and test it without obligation at Talleres M. Gallego, official Kia dealer in the Murcia region.
