Date:

Spanish cities have proposed to reduce the pollution of the air they breathe and for this reason the so-called “low emission zones” are created, as is the case of Madrid or Barcelona, which already have these areas. And that’s it, the new one

will affect over 24 million cars in Spain and that it should be ready before 2022, so it should come into effect this year

At the moment there is little information on the table, although it is known that the councils of the different municipalities will be tasked with drawing up the list of restrictions that will come with the new Royal Decree and that this will affect access to , traffic and parking in the low-emission zones. Meanwhile, Pedro Sánchez’s government, as reported by Pyramid Consulting, is working on a “minimum protocol” to regulate what the
priority vehicles, that basically there would only be the all-electric or plug-in hybrids, those are the ones with the
Emission-free label of the Directorate General for Traffic (DGT).

Following are the vehicles with the
eco-label and that they will be able to circulate without any problem, at least in the beginning, as it will be necessary to see how the different stages of implementation of this new law go.

the big ones

According to Pyramid Consulting, the new law will also “a
hierarchy of the means of transport according to their priority of passage”, establishing an order of access. For example, the provisions of the measure would be that pedestrians come first, followed by bicycles, then public transport, vehicles with a high occupancy rate and shared mobility and, finally, motorized private cars that must comply with the aforementioned directives.

And, as in any law, will include:
sanctions for those who don’t comply. In fact, this new law will impose fines on all vehicles that bypass the established restrictions, such as the severe category sanction, already in effect in the new traffic law from last March, which
200 euros those who do not respect these ‘low emission zones’.
