The Russian army has continued its offensive in eastern and southern Ukraine for the past 24 hours, albeit with fewer attacks than in previous days.

Ukraine hopes to be able to evacuate civilians trapped in the steel factory during the day this Friday Azovstal in Mariúpol, where authorities say half a thousand soldiers of the neo-Nazi Azov regiment, which is part of the Ukrainian army, and a thousand civilians are seeking refuge. Putin on Thursday gave the green light for the International Committee of the Red Cross to participate in the evacuation of civilians.

The Russian army has continued its offensive in eastern and southern Ukraine for the past 24 hours, albeit with fewer attacks than in previous days.

“The Russian Enemy Keeps Running” offensive operations in the Eastern Operational Zone to defeat the (Ukrainian) Joint Forces, gain full control over the territory of the regions of Donetsk and Lugansky and maintain the land route with occupied Crimea,” the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces said, according to local authorities.

According to the Ukrainian military report, there have been bombings in several places in both regions in recent hours, and while the situation is tense, no casualties were reported

The military army has also reported that “the Russian invaders have not conducted active offensive operations towards Izium”, an area that has been particularly punished by the Russian offensive in recent days; Their main efforts focused on reconnaissance, identifying Ukrainian defensive positions and their destruction by artillery fire.

Donetsk and Luhansk are two pro-Russian regions that declared their independence as republics in 2014; on May 12 of that year, they asked to join Russia, after a referendum between fighting and without international observers. Eight years later, and two days before the invasion of Ukraine began, Moscow recognized them as independent republics.

Kiev attacked again

On the other hand, the Russian army, which began its invasion of Ukraine on February 24, had stopped bombing the city Kiev and its environs in recent weeks, but this Thursday it attacked it again, albeit without a fatal outcome. The attacks coincided with the visit of United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

In the “temporarily occupied” areas, Russian occupation authorities continue to restrict movements and detain local residents and block humanitarian supplies flowing through Ukraine’s territory, the army said.

The war report also denounced that “the Russian occupiers are stealing from local farmers. For example, more than 60 tons of wheat were stolen from a farm in the town of Kamianka-Dniprovska, along with the trucks operating in the area”.

Separately, according to Kiev, Ukrainians shot down 15 air targets in the past day, including a fighter jet, five cruise missiles and nine drones.
