Adopts updated and sportier exterior styling for the C-Crossover segment model

Kia’s XCeed compact crossover has received a number of upgrades, including a new exterior design, an improved interior and a new GT-line version, along with an engine range that includes mild-hybrid, plug-in hybrid and petrol versions. . Both the exterior and interior have been updated to better match the XCeed’s sporty, urban character.

The new Kia XCeed features new LED headlights on a revised grille, a distinctive front bumper and an innovative air intake design. By creatively integrating the fog lamps into the headlamps, the designers have been able to fit air deflectors on both sides, which gently direct the air around the vehicle’s wheels.

The new XCeed is equipped with 18-inch alloy wheels specific to the CUV segment. At the rear, the changes include a new diffuser with a gloss black underbody protection, as well as a discreet exhaust design, giving it a fresh, sporty look.

The new GT line, powered by a 204 hp petrol engine, has a number of sporty touches that distinguish it from the base model. A bold Tiger nose design frames the new grille, while a sporty lower air intake and side bumper trim give the front end a more aggressive look. Dark chrome deflectors help direct air forward to reduce drag and improve aerodynamic efficiency. At the rear, striking hexagonal LED taillights and a body-coloured lower diffuser complete the updated and highly distinctive design.

The 18-inch alloy wheels give it an athletic look, while gloss black running boards, roof racks and body-coloured mirrors further enhance the active and dynamic look.

The updated range consists of three turbocharged petrol engines with direct injection (T-GDi): a 1.0-litre three-cylinder T-GDi with 120 hp and 172 Nm peak torque; a 1.5-litre four-cylinder T-GDi that delivers 160 hp and maximum torque of 253 Nm; and a powerful 1.6-litre T-GDi unit, the same as the Ceed and ProCeed GT models, available for the more performance-oriented variant of the XCeed. With 204 PS and 265 Nm of torque across a wide rev range, the muscular 1.6-litre T-GDi engine can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 7.5 seconds when fitted with the seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

It is also available with a mild hybrid diesel engine (MHEV). This 1.6-litre engine is available with a six-speed manual transmission for an output of 136 hp and maximum torque of 280 Nm, increasing to 320 Nm in the seven-speed dual-clutch version.

The MHEV system supplements the heat engine with power from a compact 48V lithium-ion polymer battery, now available across the entire model family. The deployment of new mild-hybrid powertrain technology in the updated XCeed range reduces CO2 emissions by up to 10% (NEDC 2.0 combined cycle), depending on body style, transmission choice, engine and vehicle specifications. It is important to note that while the application of MHEV technology improves fuel economy, performance has not decreased.

The new XCeed again has a plug-in hybrid powertrain (PHEV) as an option. It consists of a lithium-ion polymer battery with 8.9 kWh, a 44.5 kW electric motor and an efficient 1.6-litre four-cylinder GDI engine. In combination with a six-speed dual clutch transmission (6DCT), the PHEV delivers up to 141 hp and 265 Nm at the front wheels. In addition, it offers an electric range of up to 48 km and up to 60 km in urban traffic.

The new Kia XCeed will be offered in up to 12 exterior colours, depending on equipment, including three highly distinctive new colours: Lemon Splash, Celadon Spirit Green and Yuca Steel Grey.
