Among the solidarity projects of the 2022 edition, the inauguration of water wells under the slogan “Water in the Desert” stands out
After more than two years of not being able to celebrate El Desierto de los Niños, due to the COVID 19 pandemic, it returns to Morocco, this time in August. In this sixteenth edition, it does so with the participation of 25 vehicles and about 90 people. Hyundai Motor rejoins this solidarity adventure in the Children’s Desert as the main sponsor.
At the head of this caravan are again the organization’s Hyundais, joined on this occasion by the new STARIA minivan, which will make its debut at the event. In addition to the STARIA, several units from SANTA FE and the popular TUCSON will travel to Morocco, as well as a unit from KONA. One of the STARIA units will be in charge of transporting the opticians of the Alain Afflelou Foundation.
All Hyundais will be equipped with mixed tires from Korean manufacturer Hankook, more suitable than the original road tires for transit through the desert, where the cars have to overcome dusty roads, dunes, rocky roads or areas with the dreaded fesh-fesh.
Among the solidarity projects of the 2022 edition, the inauguration of water wells, carried out under the slogan “Water in the Desert”, stands out thanks to the collaboration with the Hyundai Motor Spain Dealership Network. Similarly, an action was launched for the purchase of bicycles that will be used to facilitate the mobility of girls in the most deprived area of the Moroccan desert.
At the same time, volunteers from the Alain Afflelou Foundation travel with the caravan El Desierto de los Ninos to check the eyes of a large number of people. If the use of glasses is necessary for one of the graduates, Alain Afflelou will manufacture them so that they can be delivered in the months following the trip.
The first edition took place during Easter 2004, with a caravan consisting of 25 all-terrain vehicles, led by the organization’s Hyundai Terracans, with 90 people on board, including 32 children under 14 years of age.
