A turbine intended for the Russian gas pipeline Nord Stream 1 is still waiting in vain for its use – but in the meantime it inspires musical fantasies. The Siemens Energy company posted a photo of the turbine ready for shipment on Twitter on Wednesday, writing: “It stands alone in our factory in Mülheim. Let’s make this thing happy and make a Spotify playlist.” There were plenty of suggestions right away.
After The Police’s “So Lonely” came The Doctors’ “Langweilig”, Polarkreis 18’s “Allein Solo”, Fools Garden’s “Lemon Tree”, Elton John’s “I’m Still Standing”, Celine’s “All By Myself”, Dion, “Show Me The Meaning Of Being Lonely” by the Backstreet Boys and many other titles.
The turbine intended for Nord Stream 1 and maintained by Siemens Energy has gained some notoriety. Two weeks ago, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz paid her a visit and assured her that it could be used and delivered at any time. Russia only uses pretexts for breach of contract to limit gas supplies to Germany.
No movement in sight
“Our famous turbine is still not where it should be,” Siemens Energy said on Twitter. A company spokesperson said there was no movement in sight. Russia continues to dig into documents with incomprehensible justifications. The turbine would be transported by truck. The current problems of inland shipping with low water levels also played no role.
