The main fire station in Villach (Carinthia) was called for an animal operation on Thursday morning – a winged patient was in distress!
Shortly before 10 a.m., Villach’s main fire station was called by the highway police to assist with an animal rescue on the southern A2 highway near the Faaker See exit.
Swan rescued
“When we arrived on the scene, the officers had already lifted the swan over the nature conservation fence onto the highway. The visibly injured animal was crouched there,” says operations manager Alexander Scharf.
Fortunately, there was an agricultural garage and storage space next to the highway from which the fire brigade could directly reach the animal: “The injured swan was quickly captured with an animal net and taken to the Villach animal shelter by a team from our guard. for further care,” they say. It was from the side of the Florianis, who were deployed with nine men.
