Spectacular accident Wednesday morning in Achenkirch in the Tyrolean district of Schwaz: A German driver (54) lost control of the car, ran off the road and came to a stop in the so-called Seeache. The man sustained injuries – rescue and fire services had to climb to the victim of the accident via a ladder.
The accident happened just before 10:30 a.m. The 54-year-old was driving his car on the B181 Achensee Straße towards Germany when, for unknown reasons, he broke off the right side of the road in front of a bridge near Achenkirch. The car first hit several road control systems and eventually flew in a high arc over the embankment into the Seeache.
Over ladder to injured
The car came to a stop on its wheels after about 20 meters. The alarmed emergency services had to climb to the injured person via a ladder. After first aid, the patient was carried to the street and then taken to the hospital.
Oil Barrier For Water Protection
During the rescue operation, the B181 had to be closed to all traffic in this area. Also because an ambulance helicopter has landed there. The fire brigade also had to install an oil barrier to protect against water due to leaking operating fluid. The car involved in the accident was lifted from the Ache with a crane.
