Five children between the ages of 6 and 16 found themselves in a dangerous emergency situation in the Tyrolean Zillertal on Wednesday. While playing on a sandbank, they were surprised by the rising water. The fire brigade had to come to the rescue.
The five children were on the road with their parents on the Gerlosbach in the municipality of Gerlos. They trudged through the shallows to a sandbar. The kids played there. Suddenly the group was surprised by a wave of rapidly rising water. The children could no longer reach the coast and had to be rescued by the Gerlos fire brigade.
There are danger signs all along the creek
No one was injured in the incident. However, it seems incomprehensible that the parents let the children run to the sandbank. According to the police, there are warning signs all over Gerlosbach with the inscription “Warning flooding”.
