Wednesday evening it suddenly got dark in the western part of the Wörthersee. Countless tourists and locals were without power for three hours.
In bars, guests enjoyed the atmospheric emergency lighting, while the employees of the Kärnten Netz were working at full capacity. “There were technical problems at the Forstsee station,” explains Robert Schmaranz of Kärnten Netz in an interview with “Krone”.
In order to re-energize the western half of Lake Wörthersee and the Seental, the employees of the Kärnten Netz had to transfer to the surrounding substations. “That finally worked around midnight and the 9,000 households had power again,” says Schmaranz.
