Saturday night there were shocking scenes in Frohnleiten (Styria): A 21-year-old allegedly attacked his two grandparents (both 63) with a kitchen knife. He then told the police that he wanted to kill them both. The grandfather prevented the worst.
Police rushed to a call for help from an elderly couple in Frohnleiten shortly after 8:30 p.m. on Saturday. The two 63-year-olds suffered multiple cuts when the director arrived at their childhood home. Shortly before that, there had been bloody scenes. He was visiting – as in the past – and without there being a fight, he suddenly went to the kitchen and grabbed the knife, according to the police. The 21-year-old grandson then attacked his grandmother with a kitchen knife, injuring her face.
Grandfather saved his wife
The brave grandfather was protective of his wife and may have saved her life. He was also injured on the hand. Because of the resistance, the grandson released his victims and ran out of the house. The grandparents alerted the police, whose search was initially unsuccessful on Saturday night. The two victims were taken to the LKH Bruck.

The next morning, the 21-year-old turned up at a friend’s house, where he was arrested without resistance. He also immediately confessed, stating that he wanted to kill his grandparents. The murder weapon was found in a stream.
Now the suspect is in Graz-Jakomini prison and has already been interrogated. A psychological report should now clarify whether he was healthy at the time of the crime. According to the police, the man had never been noticed by violence before, but he would have been in a psychiatric hospital before this attack.
