Deadly alpine accident Monday afternoon on the Schatzberg in the Tyrolean Unterland: A German hiker lost in the forest fell into rocky terrain and was seriously injured. The man had to be rescued by helicopter rope.
The German was walking through the valley of the Hohlriederalm towards the Auffach district in Bernau at about 2.30 pm, when he suddenly lost his way. After the man got lost in the forest and came to impassable, partly rocky terrain, he fell eight meters and suffered serious injuries.
Even made an emergency call
Fortunately, the alpinist was able to make an emergency call himself. The mountain rescue service climbed up to the injured person and performed first aid. The hiker was then rescued with a rope and flown by helicopter to the Innsbruck clinic.
