You really don’t expect that as a driver when you drive with the windows open: while driving on Sunday in the Tyrolean Zams, a buzzard flew through the open window of a car in the Tyrolean Zams (Landeck district). As if that wasn’t enough, the bird of prey got tangled in the 17-year-old driver’s hair. There has been an accident.
The 17-year-old Amsterdammer drove through the Zams district around 2.30 pm on Sunday with a passenger of the same age. What happened next, the police described in a broadcast: “The driver had largely opened the driver’s door when suddenly a buzzard flew into the interior of the vehicle through the open side window.”
The bird of prey crashed into the youngsters’ faces and got caught in their hair. As expected, the driver was startled and the car crashed into a garden wall.
Youth slightly injured
Both occupants then got out of the car. The buzzard was still in the driver’s hair. An uninvolved road user intervened and freed the animal from its predicament.
After putting it in an adjacent meadow, the buzzard flew away shortly afterwards. He should have been unharmed. The two 17-year-olds did not escape easily: they suffered minor injuries and were taken by ambulance to Zams Hospital. There was significant damage to the accident car and minor damage to the garden wall.
