“I especially feel sorry for the teenage girls. The virtual beauty ideal has far-reaching consequences: “It leads to insecurity, discontent and constant inner stress to follow an ideal that can never be achieved.”
Self-esteem plummets
Because there is often a lack of awareness that the photos seen on social media and the like do not match reality, beauty interventions are booming. “You see more and more young girls with injected, oversized and vulgar lips, breasts or buttocks,” says Lechner, who speaks of an “idiotic trend”. She herself is behind Botox and fillers, which are used to plump up the skin and thus make wrinkles disappear: “I use it to hide my sleepless nights. There is nothing to say against Botox and Co., but everything falls within the normal range.”
