Road accident with dramatic consequences Wednesday afternoon in the Vienna district of Favoriten: A car went off the road and broke through the entrance of a fashion store. The accident claimed injuries.
According to a witness, the accident happened around 2.30 pm on the corner of Laxenburgerstrasse and Buchengasse. “The vehicle went off the road, drove over the sidewalk and broke through the glass front door of the fashion store.”
As photos of the accident site show, the car came to a stop at the entrance. The floor was strewn with shards. Inside, photos show a picture of the destruction.
Girl and woman partly seriously injured
The accident left two injured, some seriously. A 60-year-old woman was seriously injured in the accident. She received emergency medical care at the scene and was taken to hospital in critical condition,” Andreas Huber, spokesman for the Vienna professional rescue services, told krone.at. An 11-year-old girl was also injured in the accident, he explained. “The girl suffered minor head injuries, but she was also taken to hospital with suspected spinal injuries,” said Huber.
The Vienna professional rescue service was on the scene with several teams, supported by colleagues from the Arbeitersamaritanbund. Police and fire brigade were also on site.
Prisoners have run away
The cause of the accident is currently unclear. However, the witness to the accident reported an interesting observation – he said he saw four teenagers running away in the car. This was also explained by Kik director Dietrich Heumann in an interview with krone.at, citing observations from the branch’s employees on the ground.
