Officials released – US officer slams suspect’s head into the ground

After a brutal police operation in a small town in the US state of Arkansas, investigations have been launched against three officers. Video footage of the arrest of a 27-year-old man had previously circulated on social media, in which the three police officers violently crushed and beat the man.

One of the officers hit the man’s head several times with his fist, grabbed his head and slammed it to the ground, another kicked the man several times with his knee. Police say the arrest took place on Sunday outside a shop in the small town of Mulberry. After the incident, the 27-year-old was initially taken to hospital for examination and treatment and was later arrested.

He was charged with, among other things, trespassing, assault and resisting arrest. CNN television reported that the 27-year-old was accused of previously threatening an employee of a nearby gas station.

The town’s mayor, Gary Baxter, wrote in a statement that the video shocked him. The result of the initiated investigation is taken very seriously. Such an incident should not be repeated. Arkansas Republican Governor Asa Hutchinson wrote on Twitter that he had spoken to state police about the incident. The officials involved have been relieved of their duties.
