The excursion of two Dutchmen to the via ferrata “Schattalagant” in the municipality of Brand in Vorarlberg ended Tuesday evening with a dew rescue by the police helicopter “Libelle”. After they couldn’t find the exit, the two 32-year-olds made an emergency call.
Two fellow climbers from the Netherlands, both 32 years old, left on Tuesday around 6 p.m. on the “Schattalagant” via ferrata. When the two men could not find the exit, they decided to descend again via the via ferrata.
However, one of the men lost his strength, after which he was unable to descend any further. His friend then made an emergency call. The exhausted man was rescued by the crew of the police helicopter “Libelle” using dew recovery and then handed over to the mountain rescue service. The other Dutchman was able to descend independently, accompanied by the mountain rescue service.
