Strong demand – fireplaces: delivery times until next year

Date:

How should I heat in the winter? Due to rising prices and gas shortages, more and more people are opting for wood-burning stoves.

There is great confusion about the rise in prices for district heating – we reported. Many people are afraid that they will no longer be able to afford it. There is also concern about whether we will be supplied with sufficient gas. This is also necessary for district heating, as only a small part of the required amount is generated by waste incineration.

searched for alternatives
It is therefore not surprising that many Vienna are looking for alternatives to remain independent of gas and energy price increases. Fireplaces are therefore very popular. “Compared to previous years, the demand has increased enormously,” says a spokesman for the Bauhaus. Customers want to make provisions for the winter to be completely independent from energy shortages.

Benjamin Varli of the Ofenhaus in Wallgasse in the 6th arrondissement has already had to draw up waiting lists. “Almost all the equipment on display has been sold,” he reports. Delivery times continued well into next year. Curious: there is currently a particularly high demand for wood-burning stoves with cooking and baking functions.

Fireplaces that burn wood are hard to find
Even at the Bauhaus there are long delivery times for certain products. Especially appliances that heat with wood are difficult to obtain. And this despite the fact that the price of firewood has increased by 25 percent. “If you want to use a fireplace in the winter, buy that look now,” he advises. The Feuerhaus has already had to temporarily close a branch in order to join forces to meet the high demand (see facsimile).
