A crack in the windshield drew police attention to a car in Vienna-Brigittenau on Wednesday evening. The driver obviously lost his nerves, stepped on the gas and drove off. A chase ensued, in which the driver even rammed into a police vehicle. The suspect behind the wheel had reasons enough to flee, as it turned out later.
When the officers wanted to arrest the driver of the car around 9.45 pm, the 20-year-old suspect accelerated and drove away. The alleged perpetrator completely ignored the red traffic lights and the speed limit in the city. A civilian police vehicle chasing the speeder hit the suspect as he fled. The manager was eventually able to push the car away in a controlled manner and thus bring the car to a stop. The arrest followed.
Full list of violations
The police could not take the driver’s license from the young suspect: the driver’s license had already been revoked. But the list of violations would continue to grow. A breath analysis test on the suspected driver showed a blood alcohol level of 0.66, and the officers also found drugs in the car. “The 20-year-old driver was reported dozens of times,” said police spokesman Daniel Fürst.
scared dog in the car
Incidentally, the suspect was not alone in the car. In addition to a passenger, a dog was also in the car during the dangerous chase. The scared four-legged friend was calmed by the police dog unit, Fürst said.
