A fire has disconnected the last line connecting the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant to the Ukrainian energy system, as reported by Energoatom, a Ukrainian energy company.

The fire was registered in the ash pits of the factory. Three other lines had previously been damaged by actions the company described as “terrorist attacks.”

The plant, which has been under Russian control since March, was already connected to the network through one of the four switched points before the region became the scene of fighting between Russian and Ukrainian forces, something the government had already warned about. (IAEA).

“The invaders’ actions caused a complete disconnection of the ZNPP from the power grid, the first in the plant’s history,” the statement said.

The situation at the plant has raised serious concerns about the danger that the confrontation could lead to a nuclear incident with unpredictable consequences.

This information from Energoatom comes shortly after, from Paris, the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, explained that there is an agreement in principle with Ukraine and Russia for his agency to conduct an on-site inspection” in the coming days”.

“There is an agreement in principle and we are working on the details. The hypothesis of an inspection is imminent,” Grossi said in an interview with France 24, after meeting French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris.
