Neo-Nazi party in the picture – “Hang the Greens”: Mild judgment on inflammatory posters

Date:

The extreme right-wing splinter party “III. Gone” distributed hate posters with the inscription “Hang the Greens” in the German federal election campaign in 2021. The Munich court has now sentenced the ex-chairman (66) to a fine for, among other things, sedition. Another defendant was given a “second-class acquittal “. In the first instance, the now acquitted 42-year-old was sentenced to six months in prison.

On Wednesday, an appeal was lodged in Munich against Klaus Armstroff, deputy party chairman of the “III. Wegs”, and Karl-Heinz Statzberger, Deputy Chairman of the Bavarian State. After the first instance for the activist from Bavaria, there is now an acquittal.

“Acquittal 2nd Class”
The court was not convinced that the 42-year-old was involved in putting up the posters. But this is “a second class acquittal”. The two verdicts are not yet final.

20 posters hung
In the case of the 66-year-old, who was re-convicted, the court assumed incitement to hatred, public incitement to commit crimes and condoning crimes. The man – chairman of the party at the time – was partly responsible for the fact that a total of 20 small party posters with the slogan were put up during the 2021 federal election campaign in Bavaria. He must pay a fine of 140 daily rates of 60 euros each.

Since the man demanded that authorities “put them back up immediately” after the posters were removed, it is impossible that they were originally put up without his intervention.

Judgment also in Zwickau
Just a few days ago, the Zwickau court also sentenced an official of the III. way in connection with the posters that were also hung in Saxony. There, the defense had argued that green was also the color of the III. way and the saying allows for different interpretations – but without success.

“Clear call for violence up to and including manslaughter”
The Munich regional court has now declared that the posters clearly refer to supporters of the Greens and are a “clear call for violence up to and including manslaughter”. There are no indications that the request was not intended seriously.
