Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin wants to expand the Russian army. By 2023, the workforce should be two million people. The number of soldiers alone – both contract soldiers and conscripts – is increased by 137,000 to about 1.15 million.
The other military personnel are so-called civilian personnel, ie administrative employees. An official reason for the increase was not given.
On February 24, Russia invaded neighboring Ukraine. According to the Kremlin, everything is “going according to plan” in the war.
However, international military experts recognize that Russia is making slow progress and assume that Russian troops will suffer heavy losses. Moscow itself has for a long time not provided information about the dead and wounded in its own ranks.
Ukraine wants to drag Putin before an international tribunal (see video above).
