DNA comparison is underway – rape in Bad Erlach: suspect caught

Date:

Arrest in two sex offenses in Lower Austria: As reported, an initially unknown woman in Bad Erlach raped a woman in June and was attempted again. The suspect, a 43-year-old man, is also suspected of attempted theft.

The suspect, an asylum seeker, is suspected of having hit a woman in Lanzenkirchen on Thursday in order to rob her. However, he was disturbed and fled, he was subsequently arrested. The suspect has been taken to the Wiener Neustadt prison, Erich Habitzl, a spokesman for the prosecutor’s office, said on request. An arrest request was filed.

However, the 43-year-old is suspected to have much more on his plate: he is said to have tried to rape a woman in Bad Erlach overnight on June 5. However, the woman vigorously defended herself against her tormentor, after which he left her and disappeared.

Victim attacked while walking
Almost three weeks later, also in Bad Erlach, the next attack on a woman took place, also at night. The suspect attacked his victim while walking his dog. He dragged her off a dike and raped her.

The suspect has not yet been identified. Seized traces would be reviewed and matched with the alleged perpetrator’s DNA, Habitzl said.
