On the Glitzalm (Styria district of Deutschlandsberg) incredible scenes took place on Tuesday: A mushroom picker was hit by a man with a wooden stick and then chased with a knife. The 80-year-old fled in a car that happened to pass by.
Mushroom areas are known to be sometimes fiercely contested and their exact location kept a secret. But what happened on Tuesday afternoon at the Glitzalm near Koralm is probably a new dimension in the battle for the best mushroom spots: a woman from Western Styria was just looking for mushrooms in the forest when she was attacked and beaten by a man with a wooden stick.

The rabid gentleman may also have been a mushroom picker. He then even chased the 80-year-old (!) with a knife. Fortunately, the woman was able to get into a passing car and file a complaint.
Schwanberg and Wies police are now asking for useful information by calling 133.
The man is said to be 1.70 meters tall, corpulent, with dark brown hair and between 50 and 60 years old. He was to drive a dark blue car with Deutschlandsberger number plates and was accompanied by a tall, slender woman with blond hair and a foreign accent.
