Two Italian cyclists were killed in a lightning strike on Friday afternoon in the mountains north of Turin. The bodies were only a few feet apart in a bend. A passing motorist who saw the lifeless bodies alerted the police.
A medical team, who arrived aboard a helicopter, tried to perform cardiovascular CPR on the two cyclists, but without success. The public prosecutor’s office in Turin has launched an investigation.
One of the victims is 53-year-old Alberto Balocco, owner of the famous Italian confectionery company of the same name, and a 55-year-old friend from Turin who lived in Luxembourg.
