When an explosive device exploded at a house in San Stino di Livenza near Venice on Saturday, one man died and another was seriously injured.
The two men were defusing a World War II bomb, police said. The dead are said to have collected war material from World War II.

The seriously injured man was taken to a hospital. His situation is critical, he said. The explosion, which could be heard from a great distance, was probably caused by the bomb having been defused. The area was cordoned off by the police. There were concerns that more explosives could explode in the dead man’s home.
