Fire alarm in Reutte – balcony of abandoned villa in Tyrol on fire

Date:

Fire alarm on Monday evening in Reutte in Tyrol: A mattress caught fire for unknown reasons on the balcony of an uninhabited villa in a forest in the capital of the Ausserfern district. The flames then spread to the wooden structure. Despite unexpected obstacles, the alarmed fire brigade was able to prevent worse.

Just before 9 p.m., the volunteer fire brigade of Reutte was called to the fire. An observant passer-by had sounded the alarm who had noticed the fire and smoke in the abandoned villa on Anton-Maria-Schyrle-Strasse. “For unknown reasons, a mattress on the balcony on the first floor probably started burning,” the police said. The flames therefore spread to the wooden balcony.

Access to the villa is not possible
The oncoming fire brigade initially faced challenges. Access to the villa was not possible as it is located in a wooded area, surrounded by undergrowth and closed by gates. Access had to be created from two sides over a length of about 150 meters and the correct hose material had to be installed. “A total of 15 B hose lengths of 20 meters each were required,” reports FF commander Alexander Ammann.

The fire was eventually brought under control and extinguished. The extent of the damage is unclear at this time. Fortunately no one was injured. 21 firefighters from the Reutte fire brigade, four rescue workers and a police patrol were on the scene. The investigation into the exact cause of the fire is still ongoing.
