Thermes of Styria – bathing pleasure is also becoming more and more expensive

Date:

The price increases don’t stop at Styria’s thermal baths either – admission prices rise by as much as 15 percent. That does not stop the crowds of visitors.

The fact that sufficient warm thermal water bubbles up from the depths in Styria also proves to be a real blessing in view of the energy crisis. “Fortunately, gas prices are not a problem for us, we have always heated our entire house with thermal water,” says Melanie Franke, managing director of Rogner Bad Blumau.

“Looking forward to development with care”
Gernot Deutsch, director of the Heiltherme Bad Waltersdorf and chairman of the Steirisches Thermenland, also speaks of a “great advantage” due to the heat from the depths. Nevertheless: “We look forward to further developments with great concern. Electricity and gas prices affect the entire price level,” says Deutsch.

Despite the benefit of hot water, the thermal baths are also affected by the ubiquitous price increase: “We assume that there will be a price increase of between five and 15 percent during the year,” estimates the director of the thermal bath . Overall, however, no blatant increase in admission prices is to be expected.

Therme Blumau wants to become self-sufficient in energy
Philipp Borckenstein, director of the Loipersdorf thermal baths, also shares this finding: “We currently see no reason for a high price increase and certainly want to remain affordable for our regular guests.” In terms of power supply, Loipersdorf is still well positioned thanks to a long-term contract. In Bad Blumau, meanwhile, work is underway on a photovoltaic installation: “Our goal is to become completely self-sufficient in energy,” says director Franke.

The guests stay because of the inflation – not yet – say the thermal baths. But: “We are already noticing that people are spending less when they visit, for example in the catering industry, and are tightening their budget,” says Thermenland boss Deutsch.
