At 9.00 am in the Upper Styrian Zeltweg the starting signal was given for the tenth edition of Europe’s largest air show. On Friday and Saturday 300,000 enthusiasts are expected. This was noticeable on the street early in the morning…
The camping chair in the right hand, the cool box on the left: the biggest Airpower fans made the pilgrimage early Friday to the area near the airport in Hinterstoisser, where everything revolves around airplanes for two days. A total of 300,000 people are expected in the Styrian Zeltweg.
Light traffic jams with a delay of up to 30 minutes
On arrival, the crowds were already noticeable: Coming from the south, the first time at the St. Michael junction was at walking pace, and after the exit on the S36 towards Zeltweg there was still a backlog to the event site. More traffic is expected until about noon.
The return journey from holiday is made more difficult – the A9 is especially affected.
Fewer parking spaces this year
Parking is only allowed with a valid ticket, which can be obtained in advance via -Ticket. Since the number of parking spaces has been halved, it is generally advisable to travel by public transport or bicycle. Many chose to walk the last few meters (see photos below).
Best conditions for the first flyers
At the entrance things went fast, the first spectators stood in the sun watching the first aircraft on the site, which could be seen there for the next two days.
Shortly after 9 am the “Eurofighter Typhoon” started. The full program can be found at: https://www.airpower.gv.at.
