Particularly unfortunate circumstances led to the death of a 38-year-old on Friday morning during logging operations in the Tyrolean municipality of Pfunds. The man died when felling a tree.
It was around 10 a.m. when the 38-year-old, together with a 63-year-old, was carrying out felling work in the so-called Eggele forest near Pfunds. The men tried to pull up a tree with a winch as it fell.
Died at the scene of the accident
During this maneuver, the tree hit a hilltop, the trunk broke and hit the 38-year-old with full force. He was so seriously injured that he died at the scene of the accident. Emergency doctor, fire brigade, mountain rescue and police were present. They could only recover the man’s body.
