Trash can, bullets and a black leather whip

In the mini-apartment rented by Kirchner’s aggressor, police found boxes of ammunition, dirt and fetish elements everywhere.

Fernando Sabag Montiel, the alleged aggressor of Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, lived in a rented 15-square-meter mini-apartment on San Martín Avenue in Buenos Aires. What is known in Argentina as a studio apartment. He also had another address in the La Paternal district where, according to some acquaintances, he kept three cars in good use. One of them used it himself to do driver work. They apparently rented the other two.

It was provisionally installed in San Martín eight months ago. Nobody knows the reason. He arrived there on the recommendation of a couple who had previously lived in the same apartment. His tenant, Sergio Paroldi, lives in an adjacent house. He is also a driver. And he is still in shock. “I still can’t believe it,” he told La Nación. Previous renters had recommended him as a good guy. He didn’t give much importance to the Nazi “black sun” tattooed on his left elbow or the other two tattoos on his hands with the Iron Cross and Thor’s hammer. Paroldi was unaware that it was a symbolism of the Third Reich, which Sabag seemed fond of based on his visits to radical and supremacist forums on the Internet.

But on Thursday night, the owner learned that his tenant was probably the most reviled person in Argentina when he turned on the television to hear about the attempted assassination of the vice president and came face to face with his picture on the screen.

Federal police went to the house yesterday to inspect it. And opening the door for them is the moment when Paroldi was surprised for the second time. It stunk. The room was covered in dirt. It hadn’t been cleaned in weeks. The sink was broken and the crockery was piled up and unwashed on one side. Due to the sickening smell, the toilet had been clogged for several days. Clothes, blankets, and a plethora of bags of crisps everywhere that apparently formed the basis of the attempted killer’s diet.

But what surprised the officers most was the discovery of several boxes of ammunition (about a hundred bullets in all) and a wide variety of fetish items: women’s lingerie, multiple dildos and a black leatherette whip. “The most surprising thing, aside from the smell and the dirt, is the amount of fetish elements. We had no idea about this facet of him,” a friend of the owner of the house explained to the Buenos Aires newspaper this afternoon.

No one in Sabag’s entourage could have ever suspected that he lived in such unhealthy and delusional ways. Much less that he intended to kill the country’s vice president. “He didn’t look crazy. He was always very polite. He respectfully called me ‘sir,'” says Paroldi. The only thing that surprised them was how a handsome 35-year-old had such a poor social life that many Avenue residents only knew him from greeting each other on the street and had never seen him in a bar or diner. “He always went in and out by himself,” the owner agrees. “A few weeks ago, he showed up with a redhead. I’ve seen her come in two or three times. “It’s a good thing he has a girlfriend now,” I thought. The owner does not know if it is the same young woman he dated a few weeks ago in a televised street report and who sold cotton candy in the center of the capital. Now he fears that Sabag had neo-Nazi friends and that they want to break into his house.
