On the night of Friday there was a violent row in Vienna-Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus between an inspector and a tariff evader. The Wiener Linien employee was injured.
The 26-year-old passenger was caught by the inspector on a tram at Europaplatz without a ticket. The young man initially wanted to pay part of the fine in cash and gave the 34-year-old employee and his 43-year-old colleague 30 euros. Shortly after, however, he changed his mind and wanted the money back.
Bite mark on right shoulder
The evader then attacked and bit the 34-year-old. Observant witnesses immediately alerted the police. The inspector sustained injuries to his nose and eyebrow as a result of the beating, a bite wound on his right shoulder and was also suffocated by the perpetrator.
Passers-by helped the employees
Passers-by came to the aid of Wiener Linien employees and pushed the money evader away from the 34-year-old until alarmed police arrived. In the end, the officers arrested the perpetrator. The injured Wiener Linien employee was treated by the Vienna professional rescue service and taken to hospital.
