Russian attacks have killed and injured several children in Ukraine. “In Zelenodolsk, the Russians killed a nine-year-old boy,” the military governor of the central Ukrainian region of Dnipropetrovsk, Valentyn Resnichenko, said on Saturday. In total, about ten people were injured by the rocket attacks, most of them seriously.
There were also rocket attacks in the Mykolayiv region of southern Ukraine. There, an eight-year-old child is said to have died as a result of the consequences, two other children and four adults were injured.
A shot has been fired at a weapons exhibition
In northern Ukraine, in the Chernihiv region, authorities also reported numerous Russian artillery attacks, damaging several buildings. Here, however, negligence on the part of the Ukrainians themselves was responsible for the injuries of several children: a shot was fired from a grenade launcher at a weapons exhibition in the regional capital Chernihiv. Five people were injured in the incident, including four children between the ages of two and 12. The prosecutor’s office has launched an investigation.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Schmyhal with Scholz in Berlin
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz will receive Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Schmyhal at the Berlin Chancellery on Sunday (2 p.m.). Before that, the head of government of the country attacked by Russia is together with the German Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Bellevue Palace. He is the most senior Ukrainian politician to visit Germany since the Russian war of aggression began more than six months ago.
A joint press conference of Scholz and Schmyhal was surprisingly canceled on Saturday. A spokesman for the German government justified this with a “postponement” without further explanation. In an interview with the dpa before his arrival in Germany, Schmyhal had demanded the German government to provide battle tanks, further financial aid and new sanctions against Russia.
