Too many provocations – Erdogan does not expect the war to end soon

Date:

Neither Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan nor the Ukrainian military leader expect the war in Ukraine to end any time soon. However, their motives for this assumption differ. While Erdogan accuses the West of provocations, Valeriy Salushniy fears the use of atomic bombs.

After the Kremlin, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan now accuses the West of “provocation”. “I can honestly say that I don’t think the attitude the West is taking is right. Because this is a West that has a policy based on provocation,” the head of state said in Belgrade on Wednesday. “As long as there is an attempt to wage such a war through provocation, it will not be possible to achieve a result. ”

In response, Russia cut off natural gas — a statement consistent with Moscow’s. “Prices in Europe suddenly went up. Now everyone is thinking hard about how we can overcome this winter. Why didn’t you think about that before?” Erdogan said.

In addition, the Turkish president criticized Wednesday that the West would only support Ukraine with “junk”. By that he meant arms supplies. Erdogan, who despite his statements sees himself as a mediator between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelenskyy, does not expect the war to end any time soon. Putin would use all his resources and weapons, including natural gas.

Ukraine: end of war not before 2023
The Ukrainian military leadership also does not expect the war to end soon, but for other reasons. There is every reason to believe that the war in his country will not end this year, army chief Valeriy Saluschniy wrote in an article he co-authored. He warned, among other things, that the Russian army could use tactical nuclear weapons under certain circumstances.

Neither a renewed attack on the capital Kiev, nor an attack by neighboring Belarus, which Russia supports, can be ruled out.
