The wet road should have been fatal for a German motorist on Tuesday evening on the Inntalautobahn in the Tyrolean Oberland. The 26-year-old lost control of the vehicle, crashing into the guardrail and being thrown over the A12. Finally, the car collided head-on with the central guardrail. The driver sustained injuries.
The German was driving on the A12 towards Innsbruck around 7:30 PM when the car suddenly skidded on the fast lane at Telfs. The car then hit the right-hand guardrail first and was then thrown over the highway. The vehicle eventually came to a stop head-on against the left guardrail.
Another driver applied an emergency brake
“The driver behind him braked to avoid a collision. His car also skidded and hit the guardrail. There was no collision between the two vehicles,” police said.
With rescue to the hospital
The 26-year-old driver was injured in the crash. After first aid, he was transported by ambulance to the regional hospital in Hall. The other driver, a German (50), was unharmed. The Inntalautobahn was closed for about an hour in the vicinity of the accident site.
