A study in which doctors from Wiener Neustadt took part stimulates the future treatment of breast cancer patients.
Groundbreaking findings have now been made in the treatment of brain metastases in breast cancer patients – and local doctors were also significantly involved. The Landesklinikum Wiener Neustadt took part in a study that was published in the respected journal “Nature Medicine”. “The study shows that brain metastases in breast cancer partially or even completely reversed with a new class of active ingredients,” explains Dr. Birgit Grünberger, Primaria of the Department of Internal Medicine.
The active substance trastuzumab-deruxtecan (T-Dxd) was used to treat the patients in hospital. “Once again, the excellent cancer expertise of the Wiener Neustadt hospital has been demonstrated. Top publications like this one make us proud and show what good work is being done in the field of research,” said Stephan Pernkopf, the vice president of the state in charge is for the clinics.
