British Prime Minister Liz Truss announced on Thursday that the temporary freeze on energy bills of consumers, with an annual limit of 2500 pounds (2874 euros) for a period of two years from 1 October.

Speaking to the House of Commons (Lower), the new head of the executive said her new energy plan will bring “security” to citizens and “stimulate economic growth”.

Truss, who took over the reins of the British government last Tuesday after Boris Johnson’s resignation, detailed these measures to counteract the impact of the remarkable rise in energy prices and its impact on citizens, as it was expected that the accounts would suffer an 80% increase since October.
