A tornado crossed Lake Garda, Italy’s largest inland waterway on Thursday. There were no reports of injuries or damage to ships or boats on the lake, which the coast guard says is popular with tourists. Northern Italy was hit by severe storms on Thursday morning. For example, heavy rain with hail fell on the Veronese shore of Lake Garda. No special damage was reported. However, there were traffic delays as all vehicles had to stop due to poor visibility.
Earlier in the night, torrential rain had hit the Como area, causing landslides and flooding, as well as Torno and Blevio in Como, which had been hit by storms in July and a year ago.
