Funerals for Queen Elizabeth II and Coronation of Charles III as King of the United Kingdom

Carlos III will be proclaimed king this Friday, and the state funeral will be the tenth day after Elizabeth II’s death. Three days after death, the body arrives in Buckingham and the next day Carlos III embarks on a tour across the United Kingdom.

Following the death of Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday, September 8, the United Kingdom is now embarking on a series of ten days of solemn deeds. Carlos III, the new monarch of the United Kingdom, becomes proclaimed king this Fridayand the State funeral is the tenth day after the death of Elizabeth II. Three days after that death, the body will arrive at Buckingham Palace, in London, and the next day, Carlos III embarks on a tour across the United Kingdom.

For example, this Thursday evening the official flags will be flown at half mast in the United Kingdom. The Friday, the flags will be waved again and at 11:00 a.m. Carlos III will be proclaimed king. Charles III will also swear to protect the Church in Scotland.

Parliament will meet to agree a message of condolence and for MPs to pay tribute to Her Majesty in the House of Commons. All parliamentary activities are suspended for ten days.

The Queen’s body will initially be transferred to the seat of the Scottish Parliament, Holyrood Palace, where all types of parliamentary activity will be automatically interrupted and a register of condolence will be made available to citizens. The next step is to transfer the body to Saint Gilles Cathedral, where it will be in the funeral chapel and where a first service will be held.
