A rape is said to have taken place during an internal celebration of the German secret service (BND). The news magazine Spiegel reports that two employees are accused of drugging and then sexually abusing a colleague.
The incident is said to have occurred in mid-July during a summer party that took place at the BND branch in Bad Aibling, Bavaria. The men are said to have used knockout drops. The alleged victim was referred to the police by the BND and subsequently filed a report.
Research “extensive”
“The complainant has been questioned and the defendant has also had the legally provided opportunity to comment,” the responsible chief public prosecutor told Spiegel. The investigations are “extensive”. The BND also filed a complaint and was “very interested in a quick and comprehensive clarification of the matter.”
The suspects were relieved of duty by a temporary ‘entry ban’. The two men deny the allegations.
Criticism of BND is growing
The Secret Service has repeatedly come under criticism in the recent past. In December last year, a suspected espionage case at the Federal Intelligence Service (BND) caused an international stir. An employee was arrested on suspicion of treason. He was accused of passing classified information to a Russian intelligence service.
