“It’s not your fault” – Rus (13) writes an emotional letter to father

Date:

Because Masha Moskalyov had painted an anti-war image at school, the authorities placed the 13-year-old Russian in a home and her father was sentenced to two years in a prison camp. Now the teen wrote a heartbreaking letter to the single parent. “Dad, you are my hero,” she explains in it. “You are innocent.” Alexey Moskalyov, who was able to flee before the verdict, is said to have been arrested in Minsk.

A drawing had devastating consequences for the small Russian family. She only painted a picture of a woman and a girl – a Ukrainian flag on the left, the Russian one on the right, and bombs flying towards the two of them. “No to the war” and “Glory to Ukraine” could be read on the drawing – the headmistress then called the police, who took a closer look at the schoolgirl’s father.

Moskalyov had spoken out on social media against Russia’s war in Ukraine. Since he again spoke out against the Kremlin’s “military operation” after a fine, a criminal trial was filed against him for “defamation of the armed forces” and the Russian was eventually sentenced to two years in a prison camp. His daughter has been in a children’s home for a year. She now wrote comforting words to her father: “I love you very much and I know that you are not to blame for anything,” says Masha.

Her father initially managed to escape from prison – the 54-year-old was under house arrest before the sentence was handed down and had fled Moscow. According to Russian media, he has since been arrested in Belarus. A lawyer associated with Moskalyov wrote on Telegram that he could no longer reach him – he therefore considers the reports of the bird breeder’s arrest realistic.
