Fire alarm late Tuesday evening in Innsbruck: Shortly before midnight, a fire suddenly broke out on a balcony in the Hötting district. The cause was an overheated heat pack placed on a litter box.
According to the police, the fire broke out on the balcony around 11:30 p.m. “The owner of the apartment had placed a microwave-heated cherry stone pillow on a litter box that was on wooden pallets to cool,” the police said.
Fight fire with fire extinguisher
The fire eventually broke out due to the overheated heating pad, which fortunately was noticed relatively quickly by the 22-year-old local resident and could be fought with a hand fire extinguisher. The alarmed fire brigade then carried out post-extinguishing work.
The extent of the damage caused cannot yet be quantified. Fortunately no one was injured.
