Bad end to nighttime moped outing: On Thursday, a 16-year-old was driving drunk on test laps at a company site in Deutschlandsberg in Styria when his 19-year-old friend suddenly jumped into the street in front of him. He was hit by a motorcycle and suffered serious injuries.
The 16-year-old from Deutschlandsberger was eager to test the moped of a 17-year-old friend. He had already filled up quite a bit himself, as the alcohol test would later show. So, late Thursday night at a publicly accessible business park in the capital of southwestern Styria, the teen really turned on the accelerator. After a few laps, another friend of the young men suddenly jumped onto the track and wanted to scare the 16-year-old with “jumping jack moves”…
No driver’s license, lots of alcohol
Not a good idea, as it turned out: the 19-year-old was hit by the moped and thrown to the ground. Western Styria had to be taken to hospital by the emergency doctor with serious injuries. The 16-year-old also suffered minor injuries in the fall. A breath analysis performed showed that both people involved in the accident were heavily intoxicated and that the driver of the accident did not even have a moped driver’s license.
