Secret Service Determined – Father of a Family as a Neo-Nazi Arms Dealer

Date:

Because of his passion for collecting, a family man became the accomplice of a right-wing extremist. Now he was on trial in St. Pölten for the unauthorized acquisition of war material.

It all started with my grandparents’ passion for hunting. It ended with six tons of war material such as ammunition and weapons being confiscated. A 51-year-old father from Lower Austria had to answer to the regional court of St. Pölten for illegal possession of weapons and unauthorized purchase of war material.

During the hearing, the defendant explained that his fascination with weapons has developed into a real collectors addiction over the years. He mainly collected war material and ammunition at flea markets, swap meets or from inheritances. One day in one of these markets he also met Peter B. They kept in touch until the family man agreed to do a favor – he was given five submachine guns (in parts) for the knowledge. The problem: B. is not just another flea market acquaintance, but the well-known neo-Nazi once considered a prime suspect in the course of the bombings.

Terrorist tendencies examined
Investigations against the right-wing radicals had led the secret service to the track of the 51-year-old ‘arms dealer’. The suspect stated that he did not know who B. was. The rough awakening only came when the handcuffs clicked for him. The neo-Nazi weighed heavily on him. B. was himself sentenced this year to a total of eleven years in prison. For the father of the family, the proceedings ended more lightly: after a preliminary sentence of two years’ suspended imprisonment, three months of probation were added – not legally binding.
