The Basque government already owns 3% of CAF with an investment of 17 million

The Basque government has acquired 3% of the CAF company through the acquisition, through the Finkatuz fund, of new company shares in the continuous market for a value of €17 million. Lakua invested 15 million in this company five years ago.

Dependent on the Basque Institute of Finance, this financial instrument has enabled the purchase of 1.76% of the company, worth 17 million, as announced in a statement this Thursday by the regional management, as it 2018 the remaining 1.24%.

In doing so, the Basque government has ensured that it “strengthens its presence and position in the share capital of a company of particular importance to the Basque Country because of its strategic character and driving force for the Basque economy”.

Prelimante today announced that the company CAF has been chosen by the company Régie des Transports Métropolitains (RTM), covering the entire public transport network of Marseille (France), for the delivery of 15 new tram sets. The contract, worth EUR 57 million, also includes an option to increase the number of trams, subject to further network expansions.

From the Basque company, they explained that Marseille, with almost 900,000 inhabitants, is the second most populous city in France after Paris, and its port is one of the most important at a commercial level in all of Europe.

The Basque company from Beasain has developed a large number of projects on the French market. Among them, it is worth noting last year’s consortium contract for the supply of 146 trains for the RER B commuter line in Paris, the contract for 28 regional trains with the option of another 75 for SNCF, the tram supply projects for the cities of Nantes , Besançon and St.Etienne, as well as the rehabilitation of the train fleet of line D of the Lyon metro.
