The executive, together with the provincial councils, the municipal councils of the three capitals and the Basque Institute of Competitiveness, has prepared a project to define “bases for the future of Euskadi”. The document will now be filed to contrast between the rest of the public and private agents.

The Basque government aims for an unemployment rate by 2040 less than 6% in the Basque Autonomous Community (CAV), as evidenced by a project prepared by the executive together with the provincial and municipal councils of the three capitals, and coordinated by the Basque Institute of Competitiveness, Oskestra.
The Lehendakari Iñigo Urkullu, the Minister of Economic Development, Sustainability and Environment, Arantxa Tapia, as well as the representatives of the rest of the above-mentioned institutions, took part this Thursday in a working meeting within this project, called “Competitiveness for the well-being of Euskadi 2040: a reflection for action”.
The project that until December will undergo the exam of the rest of the institutions and socio-economic actors, identifies the indicators that would turn the Basque Country into “a territory prosperous, innovative, connected, engaged, inclusive and sustainable. A differentiated reference place in Europe, attractive to live in and contribute to”. Among other things, the economic targets are set -unemployment below 6% or one of the European regions with the lowest poverty rate-, environmental- ( advocates for to become a “carbon neutral area” – and of O+D+I – that stands out as a leading European region in terms of innovation.
